July 4th at USAFA was
spent doing intramurals in the morning. It appears that Graham was back on the
soccer field with members of the Hellcats squadron. And this time he was
wearing the soccer cleats he brought along. [For our English friends, Graham
was back on the football pitch with members of the Hellcats squadron. And this
time he was wearing the football boots he brought along.]

Appears to have been a beautiful July 4th at the Academy

We are still adjusting to the lack of hair.

 |
Graham looks to have been playing forward or midfield, his favorite positions.
|
We were also able to see some
personality come through along with the smiles. It was good to see Graham and
his squadron mates in good moods as it provides some validation that the
adjustment to the Academy is going well. I’m sure there are moments of home
sickness, and some times in which things aren’t going well. But for today, we
just saw kids having a good time.

The most smiles we've seen from Hellcats so far.

"My name is Bond, James Bond." Or maybe it's, "My name is Vanilla Ice Cream, rap star."

All smiles, all is good. Hanging loose.
In the evening the
Basics got to celebrate the 4th of July just like everyone else in their own unique
BCT way. Food Trucks were brought in for them to pick what they would like to
eat, and I saw pizza, Chick-fil-A, turkey legs, ice cream, and much more. I was not able to spy Graham in the mass of cadets in any of the photos.
As many of
you know Colorado is prone to wildfires, and there are several burning in state right
now, one not too far from the Academy in Teller County. Fireworks have been
limited around there for years, so instead of fireworks, the basics got a laser
light show treat!
