Milestone: No More Classes, No More Books..

 ...No more teachers' dirty looks!

On Wednesday (5/11/2022) Cadet Maas arrived on the Terrazzo to participate in the fountain jumping tradition after completing his last class and essay. The tradition of jumping into the fountains began with the first class of graduates in 1959. This tradition allows cadets to celebrate their accomplishments as well as to engage in camaraderie with their friends.

Cadet Maas said the water was very cold. It is the last time he will wear his USAFA flight suit, so he wanted to give it a proper send off.

The fountains were filled in and levelled in 1975 due to drainage problems. Later, between 1998 and 2000, the two fountains on either end of the Air Garden were re-excavated and filled with water again. 

The fountains were under construction during 2021. Once completed, the area was returned to the original 1950s design. The project was funded by the classes of 1972, 1975, and 1976 and the Association of Graduates.
